Gas Prices Spur Spike In Motorcycle Licenses

Posted by admin as Gas Prices

The number of motorcycle licenses has increased this summer, and there seems to be more inexperienced riders on the road.

High gas prices have boosted sales of motorcycles and mopeds. But the appeal of the open road and more miles per gallon is carrying a sobering statistic, KMBC’s Bev Chapman reported.

Ten percent of the people who died on Missouri highways last year were riding a motorcycle, state records show.

On Tuesday, two men on motorcycles were injured in a collision at Highways 291 and 58 in Cass County. The highway patrol said they were passing a line of cars and failed to see a truck making a left turn in front of them.

“Statistically, the highest accident rate is someone who learns from a relative, learns from a friend, or just tries to figure it out for themselves,” said Claudia Mekins, who teaches motorcycle safety at Maple Woods Community College.

According to the Missouri Division of Motor Vehicles, there are about 9,000 more licensed motorcycle drivers in the state this year.

“I’ve had people say they never thought of riding a motorcycle before. They’re just doing it because of the gas,” Mekins said.

But saving money means little if you are injured. Mekins said many of the people turning the keys on two-wheelers haven’t ridden since they were kids.

“When you’re 12, you bounce. When you’re 40, you don’t bounce. When you’re 12, you ride on dirt roads or in the back yard. When you’re 40, you’re on I-435. It’s serious,” Mekins said.

There are several schools in the Kansas City area that offer motorcycle training classes.

If I am on a budget for home heating fuel set at $3.05 will I be able to go lower if fuel prices fall?

Posted by admin as Fuel Prices

With the dip in oil prices will the price of fixed budgets for home heating fuels such as oil, natural, gas & propane see a reduction as well?
It is propane for $3.05 a gallon.

you’ll pay the 3.05 for the allotted time no matter if it goes up or down.
i’m assuming you mean that you have signed a contract and not your personal budget.in the latter case you’ll pay what ever is charged at the time.

Boxing Day Sales Boom in Sydney

Posted by admin as Petrol Prices Australia

Wong:
It seems the economic downturn hasnt fazed Australian shoppers. They were out in force in Sydney today looking for bargains at the Boxing Day sales.

STORY:
Ready, steady, go! Shoppers in Sydney, Australia rush to the bargain bonanza.

Across the country they’re expected to spend over 10 billion U.S. dollars in post-Christmas sales.

Department stores in Sydney opened early to catch the stream of eager shoppers. Some had even camped outside overnight.

It seems the gloomy economic front makes a bargain too good to resist.

[Shopper]:
“It’s actually quite good, this is my first Boxing Day sale, getting up at 4.30 in the morning to come down. So it’s pretty good.”

[Shopper]:
I think anytime is a good time for a bargain these days. With petrol prices down low at the moment, I think it’s just anytime is a good time for a bargain.”

And now could be as a good a time as ever.

The fall of the Australian dollar means that many prices of imported goods like furniture and clothing are set to rise in coming months.

Fake Money – Gas prices & housing crash

Posted by admin as Fuel Prices

Are Federal Reserves Notes fake money? They are neither money nor real notes and are the main cause of the current economic disaster.

When the market doesn’t decide on a medium of exchange, but gangs of psychopaths impose it by way of “legal tender laws” and “prosecutions”, then this is exactly what we get.

What will happen when oil and gas prices get soo pricey that are unafordable?

Posted by admin as Gas Prices

Let's assume, that gas prices goes to $100 a gallon so it can not be bought by almost anybody. What will happen to the economy and to everybody else? Should we kill ourselves? Does the increase in oil prices is the end of the world or at least civilization?

If that does happen, a lot more people will be walking, riding bikes and finding other modes of transportation. Cities will be forced to become more self-sufficient, meaning that people will not have to go very far to get to their jobs or to the store. Hey, there just might be a silver-lining after all.

I imagine that if such a thing happen, the economy would collapse, but I could be wrong. I do know that people would find a way to adapt and keep on going. It's what we do, what we've always done. It wouldn't be the first time a superpower collapsed. Remember Rome? The collapse was so great that it set off the Dark Ages. But people continued to live. They adapted, made do. And eventually, things got better. I think that history is cyclic, not linear. Everything that is happening now, has happened before.

The increase in oil prices is a burden and even I am feeling the pinch which is laughable because I can't drive and don't own a car! (It has caused the price of food, electricity and bus fare to go up, so I am still affected.) But it will not end the world and it will not end civilization. Human beings are remarkably adaptable and do well in times of adversity.
