PlusGas at $4 Brings Promises, PanderingGas at $4 Brings Promises, PanderingThe ociated PressAs Americans cope with $4 gas prices, presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain are offering more promises and new incentives as they try to win over voters. (June 23)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] Gas prices that top four dollars a gallon are bringing problems for voters….SOT”i’ve parked my car for almost a year now”And promises from presidential candidates. The latest comes from Republican John McCain, who is hoping to help solve the energy crisis with some cold, hard cash.SOTJohn McCain”I propose we inspire the ingenuity and resolve of the american people by offering a 300 million dollar price for the development of a battery package that will leapfrog commercially available cars”McCain is also proposing a summer break from the federal gas tax, an idea he floated during the primaries.Last week, he reversed course on off-shore drilling, saying he would be open to lifting the ban.SOT(McCain talking about lifting drilling ban)Obama has criticized McCain for offering proposals that he says would do little to solve the energy crisis.SOTBarack Obama”when John McCain says well we’re going to drill our way out of the problem or we’re going to suspend the gax tax, then I say, that’s a gimmick”For his part, Obama wants to go after oil-market speculators who drive up prices. He’s also calling for a windfall profits tax on oil.SOTBarack Obama ” I have proposed taking record multi billion profits from the oil companies to pay for for a $1,000 middle class tax cut…to offset the rising costs of fuel.” A new USA Today-Gallup Poll suggests that 47 percent of voters think Obama would do a better job on energy issues compared to 28 percent for McCain. ___ ___, The ociated Press.

Oh, but emotions …
Oh, but emotions are so much more sincere! And logic is so cold-hearted and mean! Hahaha! No, dude, I totally agree with you. People need to stop thinking with their emotions and letting their minds rot. That’s how we end up with bumper-sticker voters.

how ing stupid …
how ing stupid are human beings my ing gosh, mccain said he wants to invest in electric battery cars and offshore drilling which is great news but obama wants to tax oil companies.people oil companies will not be affected by gas prices it is yoooooou!!you will pay for the increase in tax, exxon wont ing care coz u are the only hole who will end up paying this tax.why is it so ing hard for ppl to put aside emotions and use logic!!!

Americans need to …
Americans need to stop being SO dependent on gas. The countries that sell us the gas don’t like us..so that’s why they raise the prices on it. In Russia, Gas is about 98 cents but they sell it to us for almost 5 ing dollars. And since gas is a NEED, it’s like they have us under control. So we shouldn’t be so dependent on it. We should get those Hybrid cars. Or we could just find other ways to get to our jobs. I’m 16 and i don’t have a job but yeah.. =/

Vote for EXXON JOHN …
Vote for EXXON JOHN / BP PALIN and you will guarantee more RECORD gas price increases for us all.

Exactly!

Most …
Exactly!

Most Americans have no idea that Americans pay more in state and federal gas taxes than the oil companies make in profit!

That is already a “windfall profit tax”.

What an idiot and his idiot supporters believe it.

“The price of gas …
“The price of gas will continue to drop up until the election in November.”

The prices are dropping because they want to sell the oil at as high a price as possible. Some investors think that McCain may win, and they know that, if he does, they will not be able to sell their gas at the highest price. Investors are not going to sell there gas just out of the slim chance that it might make people vote differently. If Obama wins they will get even higher prices for the gas.

LOL Obama is so …
LOL Obama is so stupid. ‘Hey! Lets make the gas companies pay for peoples gas!’ LMAO!!!!! Hey! Lets “tax” the universities, and then give that money to students to pay for them to go to school! The American people are so gullible.

The price of gas …
The price of gas will continue to drop up until the election in November. This is done to sway the American voter. This false hope of lower gas prices will quickly be lost when gas reaches $6.00 + per gallon within the next two years.

even if more oil is …
even if more oil is drilled, domestic refineries are unable to refine any more than they are right now. when they say supply is tight, they mean the usa does not have enough refineries to refine crude.
a few years ago the senate voted 51-49 that alaska is not restricted to sell oil to domestic refineries.
what does that mean?
yes, they will sell it to the dragon left of the pacific.

never ever trust …
never ever trust wealth and power in the hands of the few.

what made america great was the huge middle class which is rapidly shrinking.

i am glad you have …
i am glad you have awareness.
america’s exports resemble developing nations supplying steel, cotton and other raw materials to be manufactured abroad and then imported here.many east asian nations don’t respect US intellectual rights and patents.

norway, china, japan, saudis, uae amongst many also hold major stakes in the stock market.
80 percent of america’s population controls only 8 percent of the wealth. the super rich in europe, asia and usa are getting crazy rich.

Very good point, Mr …
Very good point, Mr Getlostfucjyourself. (why that name though?) .. llol Anyways, I am all about drilling in Anwar, and wherever else, but totally against foreign ownership of this nations mineral wealth. Plus, I know we can’t buy l;ease or own land in China. Are trade relations with China are strictly one sided deals which allow us to be raped financially. We need a Candidate willing to take serious action.

i agree seneca.
if …

i agree seneca.
if bolivia can nationalize their gas why can’t usa?
even if one doesn’t buy the environmental impact idea of drilling in ANWR, shouldn’t those be reserved for future calamities or cutoff of oil from the middle east?

isn’t it outrageous that alaskan oil is being shipped to asia to power their factories so we buy more things and are in debt more all the while paying more for gas to do the job to erase the debt while the dollar falls more and more?

OK, Obama, the …
OK, Obama, the Windfall thing was tried before and failed, but ending the futures market is a good start. I still want to know at what point will we nationalize gas? shall we wait to $5/ Gal? $10/gal? Lets do it now. I am serious.

no my friend. i am …
no my friend. i am not being jealous of someone else’s success.
what i meant is that many public policies, both internal and external are catered to serve the super rich’s interests at the expense of the country as a whole. i was speaking of people who use their money and power to influence things. examples of this sort of manipulation are abundant if you take the time and energy to find out.
god bless america.

“the spectualtors? good lord .. yea lets go after big oil too and tax them !”
less than 9 percent of wealth is controlled by 80 percent of the US population.
the wealth holders are company ceo’s, chairmans, entrepreneurs who hire lobbyists who greatly influence the laws, foreign policies for the entire country.
if you cannot get that idiot, i don’t know what else to say.
