If people aren't happy about fuel prices then why do they keep speeding?
Posted by admin as Fuel Prices
Speeding burns up loads more fuel yet people still do 90mph down the motorway burning up over 50% more fuel than if they did 60, same for people who do 50 in 30 zones. Why can't people just slow down and stop being so stupid?
WHY DOES EVERY ONE KEEP POSTING THE SAME **QUESTION** ABOUT ***FUEL** JUST GET OVER IT .
IF YOU NEED TO RUN YOUR CAR THEN YOU'VE GOT TO PAY THE PRICE. THATS ALL THERE IS TO IT. NO ONE IS HAPPY ABOUT IT .. YOUR JUST GOING TO GET THE SAME ANSWER EVERY TIME …
Or even driving
try public transport, walking, cycling.
Drive a more economical car, drive it more economically.
I disagree with 50 in a 30, if you are in 5th gear doing 55mph, your economy will be the best, The speed zone makes no difference!
55mph in a 30 zone and 55mph in a 70 zone give exactly the same fuel consumption figures.

I share a car with the wife but I never use it and prefere to use my motorcycles.
I live in a rural area, the nearest major hospital is 50 miles away, the nearest train station is 55 miles away, my wife and my son and I all work over 20 miles away at different places and working hours.
Yesterday my wife and son both used their cars [my son does have motorcycles aswell] and I used my motorcycle, between us we used approx 15 ltrs of petrol.
Only problem for us is, There is no bl00dy decent public transport.
If there was we would use it.
And I don't give a damn about speed limits or fuel economy, I always ride through the villages at 30mph but on the open road I ride or drive to the conditions.
The cost of fuel is just another cost to bear-If we don't buy fuel we can't work.

People aren't happy about fuel prices becauses people like to moan. Press articles suggest that people are being priced off the road. Do you notice it? Look at cars sometimes. So many just have one occupant? How many car journeys are actually necessary? Cheaper fuel prices will mean more congestion and more pollution. Keep the prices high I say.

We speed because it's a thrill, because it's no more or less expensive than getting beered, using drugs of owning a big telly. I don't think MPG when I drive I think about MPH.

Why don't you just get off their way. If I see a car behind me who I feel that he was in a rush then I'll move and let him pass. Some people are just in a rush. I was in a rush today because I needed to use a restroom and the guy in front of me was too busy talking on a cellphone.

ok here is how it works it is not a set speed of 50 to 60 mph it is a rpm range when the car shifts into the final gear at the lowest rpm on the powerband above stalling that is the most efficient gas mileage
less rpms means less fuel needed
and not everybody is hurting for gas if some people would budget propley it wouldnt be a issue
live within a third of your means
its really not that hard to understand
screw keeping up with the joanes's
dont covet and all that
as for the speeding aspect well yea going excessive speeds is bad and they will eventually get caught and pay
but how about people going under the speed limit (im talking like 10 to 15 under)these meter maids(retired soccer moms with extra time thinking that they matter)tend to cause more issues with everyone having to go round them because they always sit in the middle
and the confusing part is whyle they will only go 55 in the 70 zone when they run into construction speeds of 45 they will keep going 55
anyway goodluck

It's the old have your cake and eat it syndrome. People want it all ways. They want cheaper fuel, but don't want to change their habits to reduce consumption. They expect everyone else to make the sacrifices on their behalf.
We had a petrol blockade a few years ago where people blocked access to and from the refineries in protest at the prices. Most garages ran out of petrol. Everyone said that they were behind it, and nobody could get to work, but as soon as any petrol stations got petrol, they made sure that they were in the queue to get some, expecting everyone else to suffer, so that they could use their cars.
We now see that the Government, who have spent a fortune on trying to get people out of their cars and on to public transport to save the planet, giving in to motorists and reducing tax on fuel because they don't want to lose their votes at the next election. What does it matter if the roads are gridlocked with cars and if the air is so polluted with exhaust fumes that we can't breathe and if the polar ice cap melts because of all the exhaust fumes in the air, so long as these selfish people get their cheap petrol?

There’s noting more funny to watch then a speeder, he is probably late for work, almost killing himself to get there, when he finally there he is pissed off because he has to work, so he’s damn near killing himself to get to somewhere he do not want to be…
