In your opinion, do you think the government is doing anything to stop fuel prices from going higher?

Posted by admin as Fuel Prices

It seems like you can sit there and hear politicians on the newscasts sit there and moan and grown on the high gas prices, but it seems to me that they (A) they don’t want to do anything about it, or (B) they can’t. I’m not sure what it might be but the prices are going to soon kill us where we all have to be lucky and survive without food and drinks at home, etc. I’m afraid. All I know is, it’s getting rediculous.

Lobbyists, in Bed with the Oil Companies, Sharing the profits.

That’s about all!

Bush Administration says they want alternatives.
Yet COUNTLESS, EFFICIENT ways are produced (but not by major companies) and are rejected.

It’s just for MONEY. Oh, profits! The government CAN.

Look, my local municipality wants to charge everyone with wells a flat rate.

Excuse me? We pay for the electrical pump to pump our water from our source, not city water. If they can charge the citizen to pump water, the same should apply to oil.

But it won’t.
Not when you’re in bed with the Middle east and oil exe’s.

And it’s not just Republicans. It’s Democrats. Independents.

When people learn through public office they can exploit, thats when democracy doesn’t run efficiently.

But what do I know, I’m only sixteen.

I think they can do alot more. Take it, I do not know who is the person that says..this is the price of a barrel of oil or whatever. But as you said it is ridiculous and they need to stop talking and start acting. There has to be something immediate we can do to lower it…it sure has immediately gone up! Thanks for letting us vent with you.

I honestly think that the are unable to actually do anything about current high gas prices- it is out of their hands.

What it sounds like they are doing is figuring out alternative ways to power our cars- whether its electric, hydrogen, or hybrid- for example I believe the government made a new rule that by a certain year (I want to say 2020, but I could be off) all car manufacturers (in order to sell in US) must have average MPG of 30-35 mpg. So you will slowly see car companies coming out with smaller and more efficent vehicles. It makes sense $$-wise and Earth-wise.

1) If you are in the UK, then no. Gordon Brown will bleed us dry. The current budget was set with the assumption petrol was around 80-85p a litre. As a result of the hike in price he’s raking in a ludicrous amount of money that has never been budgeted for, although it fills in the holes left by some of his massive mistakes (Northern Rock anyone?).

2) If you are in the US, we would kill for fuel as cheap as $2 a gallon! We are currently paying FIVE times more than that!
