Experts don’t have an answer for that question, but most agree the average price for a gallon of regular will pass the $4 mark this month…lots of people are already paying THAT.And the big oil companies are facing hard questions for their record profits.On Capitol Hill, Senator Patrick Leahy grilled some top oil companies executives about how much of those profits go into their pockets.NATS FROM HEARINGThe execs say even though the five companies represented at the hearing made 36 Billion dollars in profit last year, percentages show it’s not anymore than other companies are making. Meanwhile, Senators say Americans continue to feel the pain at the pump…and that pain is spreading beyond the cost of driving.American Airlines announced it plans to start charging passengers to check luggage – even a single bag. The airline, and others in the industry, say something has to be done to make up for the ever-rising cost of fuel. Isn’t it curious that when gas prices were rising every week, so many were quick to blame President Bush? Yet today, with the price dropping rapidly, you don’t hear a word of praise. Is Bush really the cause of all our nation’s ills, and have we learned anything from the gas price fluctuation?

Why is it always …
Why is it always one extreme or the other? Why can’t we drill and look for alternatives? Several energy companies are doing just that.
Instead of trying to make an effort to reform our energy policy, we only focus on drilling. That’s like a bandage on cancer. This will only take us back to the same place we are now ten years down the road.
Drill in the short term, but we need to reform our energy policy, or we’ll just be here again in 10 years ing about the price of gas and electricity.

Blame Congress for this debakle. Hey… out of the several billion in profit, the execs who make the companies run get less than 10% in total…. however, many pensions of regular Americans are doing well, and this profit is paying for hundreds of thousands if not millions of people’s retirement in the US and the World. It is a matter of public record how much of the stock of these companies is owned by shareholders, and you can find plenty of portfolios of regular people with this stock.

If the oil companies were hurting then we could understand these prices, instead they have RECORD PROFITS and think we’re so stupid we won’t notice!! OPEC has us by the balls, and let’s face it, our policies in the gulf aren’t exactly popular over there…what better way to wage warfare than to bleed the pig. Stuff is valuable when it’s observed to be scarce in supply, so no doubt those in-frequent refinery fire outbreaks are tragic for the oil companies…

Perhaps we should make different cars, electric, or ones that run on natural gas (hydrogen. The US government needs to start their own oil company. Hire former petroleum employees and drill on federal lands. Compete against the private oil companies in order to control the prices. After all the oil actually belongs to the American people. Saudi supports their citizens education and medical care from their oil profits.

We will never be out of oil despite the hype that the oil companies would like you to believe. Oil does not come from dead dinosaurs, nor does it have any organic properties. The sun drives atoms into the crush of the Earth that is then compressed and turned into crude oil. The oil companies found this out in the late 1970s, but have kept that knowledge from us to control pricing.
