ATV Ten Evening News 1990 HD

Posted by admin as Petrol Prices Australia

Hard to believe that we were complaining about Petrol being 80 cents a litre but it made the lead story of the Ten Evening News this particular Wednesday night in October 1990.

In Fact, Petrol Prices were about to fall.. even harder to believe.

David Johnston was the sole News Anchor of the Ten Evening News in Melbourne in October 1990.

This News Opener aired on Wednesday October 24th 1990 from ATV 10s Nunawading Studios.

yeah. Well.. mid …
yeah. Well.. mid 1989: “X Ten News” to… “10 TV Aus city Eyewitness News” to… “Ten Evening News With Newsreader’s Name” (in huge letters except on ATV) and coool dark set to… sack reader after 12 weeks and change to a blue set to… “ten eyewitness news” to…. the all-star return of 1 hour double-anchor “Ten Eyewitness News” to…. “First at Five”. All that in just a bit over 2 years!

Back in the day …
Back in the day when all oil in the country actually came out of the ground here in Australia. Bulletin also shows the HUGE amounts of tweaks made to Tens News product from The End of 1989 through to Mid 1991.. astounding.

Ahh memories of …
Ahh memories of 1990. 80 cents a litre, if only these days! Thanks for sharing!

fantastic! The …
fantastic! The last couple months of 10 TV. Classy brand whatever else said about it. Sydney’s “This is the Ten..” was fair bit earlier in their open. Good look.

I just wish that …
I just wish that petrol was 80 cents a litre again, as the current price at a petrol station in Nunawading (the Melbourne suburb where ATV-10’s news studios were, before moving to The Como Centre in South Yarra in 1992) is 154.9 cents per litre which is nearly double the 1990 Gulf Crisis price for fuel.
