why are fuel/petrol prices in the us so much cheaper than in other developed nations?

I was just wondering why fuel in the us is cheaper than lets say europe or Australia

Nearly the entire cost difference is in higher taxes elsewhere. Fuel taxes are a major source of government revenue in many countries; and also many countries levy very high taxes specifically to discourage people from using fuel. The U.S. has comparatively low federal and state gas tax.

The fuel is not cheaper – there are just much less taxes added onto the price in those countries
